Many older properties around Loose, Tovil and the town centre were built with local ragstone or solid brick and no cavity, so driving rain and rising groundwater work through the fabric over time. Once moisture is trapped inside the wall, plaster stays damp for months and black mould spreads across skirting boards, chimney breasts and behind wardrobes long after the weather has dried up outside.
