Damp, mould & leak services in Seven Sisters
Seven Sisters is dominated by dense Victorian and Edwardian terraces and bay-fronted conversions around Seven Sisters Road and West Green, many now split into flats with shared, ageing services. Add 1930s mansion blocks, the 1970s Broadwater Farm estate, and newer Woodberry Down towers, and you get solid walls, old roofs and pipework, and poorly ventilated conversions prone to damp, mould and leaks.

Common damp problems in Seven Sisters homes
Solid-wall Victorian terraces and rising damp
Much of Seven Sisters' terraced housing was built with solid brick walls and no damp-proof course, common around West Green and South Tottenham. Ground-floor rooms often show tide-marked plaster, crumbling skirting and salt staining as moisture wicks up from the soil. Cement render or non-breathable modern coatings applied over the decades frequently trap this moisture further, worsening the problem rather than curing it.
Subdivided flats and condensation mould
Many Victorian and Edwardian houses near Seven Sisters Road and Broad Lane have been converted into multiple flats, often with a single bathroom extractor serving a household and little cross-ventilation. Cooking, drying laundry indoors and gaps in loft insulation over top-floor conversions push moisture levels up, and black mould regularly appears around cold external walls, window reveals and behind wardrobes pushed against unheated flanks.
Estate blocks, flat roofs and penetrating leaks
Post-war and 1970s estate housing, including blocks around Broadwater Farm and older council stock near Tottenham Hale, often has flat roofs, concrete walkways and ageing communal plumbing risers. Perished roofing felt, blocked gutters and corroded pipe joints allow water to track through ceilings and party walls, producing damp patches and mould in flats several floors below the original point of entry.

I recently used a damp and mould specialist company and was extremely impressed with the service from start to finish. From the initial survey, they were knowledgeable, thorough, and took the time to clearly explain the cause of the issue rather than just treating the symptoms.
